Tonight, November 8: Sidney's Salons presents "Stories & Artifacts: Macon's Contributions in a Time of War" by Conie Mac Darnell
Sidney Lanier Cottage, 5:30 p.m.
The Lanier Center for Literary Arts continues "Civil War to Civil Rights: A History Seeks its People" tonight with Conie Mac Darnell, who will be discussing stories collected for his latest project, a Civil War and emancipation era guide called "Walking Back to Georgia." Darnell was president of NewTown Macon from 1999 to 2004. He wrote a short history of Macon for the "Macon Sketchbook." Refreshments will be served at 5:30 p.m. prior to the program at 6:00 p.m. Free for members, $5 nonmembers, $3 students.


Saturday, November 12: Flea Market Second Sale
Northeast Plaza Shopping Center (Rose's), 9 a.m. to noon
Don't miss Historic Macon's flea market second sale! All items will be half-price. Located in the Northeast Plaza Shopping Center, a few doors down from Rose's Discount Store and right next to the police precinct. All proceeds benefit Historic Macon.


Sunday, November 13: Second Annual Architectural Styles Society Meeting
155 Oak Haven Ave., 5:00 p.m.
Join Historic Macon for the Second Annual Meeting of the Architectural Styles Society. This year's featured style is the Arts & Crafts Style, as exhibited by Neel Reed's 1909 commission at 155 Oak Haven Ave. The home has recently undergone an extensive rehabilitation by Macon architect Shannon Fickling. The home and grounds will be open for tours. Advance ticketing is required. Tickets are $35 and may be purchased online here or by calling 478.742.5084. Whole-hog roast by award-winning champion barbecue cooking team D.W.'s Kountry Cookers, grilled fall vegetables, beer and wine included. All proceeds benefit Historic Macon.


Monday, November 14: Special Salon with Dr. Peter Addyman
Sidney Lanier Cottage, 5:30 p.m.
Dr. Peter Addyman, CBE, will present a special lecture on British archaeology. Addyman is one of the world’s foremost archaeologists and was founder and director of the York Archaeological Trust. Join Historic Macon for a reception and lecture honoring Addyman. Free and open to the public.
